Tracing timber origin

Second users committee meeting

On the 18th December 2019 the TIMTRACE project had its second users committee meeting, after the kick-off meeting in May 2019. The meetings are held every six months and are organized by Dutch Science Foundation (NWO-TTW). The users committee meetings involve the TIMTRACE researchers from WUR, timber industries/traders (Wijma and Preciouswoods), Dutch authorities (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Belastingdienst/Douane, Product Safety authority – NVWA) and other organizations such as Tropenbos International, the certifying body Control Union and the European Forest Institute.

The second meeting focused on the latest developments of the TIMTRACE project and on the upcoming activities: fieldtrips to Indonesia and Cameroon in the first half of the 2020. The exchange among such a multi-disciplinary group ensures the value of the tracing tool to serve science and applied purposes. Looking forward for our next meeting in June 2020. Let’s keep bridging science and application of the timber tracing tool, let’s TIMberTRACE it!
